I am simply Mridul, Dr. Mridul Dora, as you all know me. Born and brought up in
the beautiful valley of Dehradun amidst the charms of nature, I grew up to be a
child of immense thought and knowledge. An average child at school, but innovative
from within, shyness within and without, I pursued my schooling from Brightlands,
and then MKP Inter College, Dehradun. Then I went on with my graduate and post-graduate
degrees from the very same MKP P.G. College. But for me God had much more in store.
I attained my second Master's from Kanya Gurukul Mahavidyalaya (Second Campus, Gurukul
Kangri Vishwavidyalaya). I also did my PGCTE (Post Graduate Certificate in Teaching
English) from EFL University(formerly known as CIEFL), Hyderabad. Another step in
my academic career was Ph.D. (English) from Gurukul Kangri Vishwavidyalaya, Haridwar
and yet another was an MBA (HR) from Sikkim Manipal University.
I wrote my first poem at the age of 13 when I was in VIII standard. The Doordarshan
channel was broadcasting the funeral ceremony of our former President Lt. Sardar
Giani Zail Singh ji when my mother explained me how a human body is formed of five
elements and how after death, the five elements get scattered. Somehow, it struck
my mind and my first poem was 'Paanch Tatv' based on life and death of a human body
which was also published in the school magazine. However, it was also a tribute
to Lt. Sardar Giani Zail Singh ji. Gradually I started writing poems as and when
they occur to me. I always used to dream of being a writer. The idea of my first
novel struck me long back in 2007 but it could never be materialized. I wrote a
few initial pages of this novel in 2011 but then God had some other plans. Shabad,
my bundle of joy, came in my life and the novel got stuck. I am working on it now.
I have a good collection of both English and Hindi poetry which will be published
soon. Some of my Hindi and English poems have been published in various anthologies.
I started my teaching career in 2004 as an ELT teacher cum Personality Development trainer which also included imparting Interview Skills to candidates. I have also taught English to students from Thailand and Korea. I have also worked with CETPA Infotech Pvt. Ltd. as Manager-HR and imparted training in Campus Recruitment Preparation.
